The Turntable That Eliminates Tracking Error:Soulution 787

Swiss high-end audio manufacturer Soulution has long established its reputation through exceptional amplifiers and DAC products. Now, the company ventures into entirely new territory with their inaugural turntable—and what a remarkable debut it is.

Soulution 787

The newly unveiled Soulution 787 employs an extraordinarily rare linear tracking platter design that challenges conventional turntable philosophy. Rather than following traditional approaches, this innovative system allows the platter to rotate while simultaneously moving laterally, enabling the tonearm to maintain optimal tangency with minimal angular deviation as it traces the record grooves.

This concept bears resemblance to tangential tonearm designs, yet with a fascinating twist. While conventional tangential systems move the tonearm radially from outer to inner grooves as the stationary platter spins, Soulution's ingenious 787 reverses this paradigm entirely. Here, the tonearm remains stationary at its pickup point while the platter gradually travels toward it during playback.

What advantages does this revolutionary approach offer? According to Soulution, this design reduces tracking error to an impressive <0.15°—all without requiring any anti-skating force whatsoever. The tracking performance surpasses that of conventional tonearms significantly. The 8-inch tonearm features a precision-machined tube crafted from specialized alloys, optimized for high-compliance cartridges. The entire tonearm assembly mounts on an independently isolated, vibration-free structure that eliminates any resonance from the platter mechanism. VTA, azimuth, and other critical parameters remain fully adjustable.

The power supply represents another engineering triumph, utilizing a specially designed switching power system with highly efficient DC-to-DC conversion. This arrangement delivers exceptionally low noise and rock-solid voltage stability, ensuring the 787's linear operation remains pristine throughout playback.
